Do you know which pathology service to use?

Lancet Laboratories is the Scheme’s pathology designated service provider (DSP).

To help avoid additional costs or co-payments, members are encouraged to be aware that Lancet Laboratories is the appointed pathology Designated Service Provider (DSP) for Platinum Health Medical Scheme (PHMS), in accordance with Scheme rules.

Lancet Laboratories provides pathology services for PHMS members, both in-and-out of hospital. Subject to Scheme benefits and rules, members who use the appointed DSP for pathology services may avoid co-payments that could apply when using an alternative pathology provider.

Lancet Laboratories operates a national network of laboratories across South Africa, supporting diagnostic and monitoring pathology services.

Members should inform their general practitioner, specialist, or treating healthcare provider that Lancet Laboratories is the PHMS appointed pathology DSP when pathology testing is required. This is important during hospital admissions as well, as the use of alternative pathology providers may result in additional costs to the member.
